Reddit glossary
What is Hot, New, Top and Rising on Reddit?
These are the ways Reddit lets you sort posts in a community: by what is popular now, newest, best of all time, or gaining speed.
Hot mixes votes with how recent a post is. New shows the latest first. Top shows the highest scoring posts over a chosen period. Rising shows posts that are picking up votes quickly.
Comments have their own sorting, such as Best, Top, New and Controversial.
If you are promoting something
Reading Top for the past year is the fastest way to learn what a community likes. Reading New shows you the questions you could answer today.
